Commitment: the state of being emotionally impelled to do something. My commitment is to making art, loving life and doing well.

Daily Artworks... my continuing challenge for 2015: Observe and record. Record and observe. And stretch - s-t-r-e-t-c-h - myself.
What will I discover?

Torngats 2015 - Where Nature and Culture Connect 08

Downtown

The Base Camp's Tent Area...
...is nicknamed "Downtown."

This is the 10th anniversary of the Torngat Mountains National Park, and the Base Camp has grown along the Park. The original tent area, placed close to the dock, the bunkhouse and other facilities, is now nicknamed "Downtown" and the expanded accommodations area is called "New Town." The tent ground sports a mixture of backpacker styles and traditional canvas prospector tents.  The colourful tents are the first thing a visitor sees of the Base Camp from the air or water.

Take It To The Streets - Day 7

Red, White and Blue

Red pants, white snow and blue shadows
- a winter color scheme

The sun is strong on clear winter days, and the shadows are cast in saturated blues. The pedestrian was walking through the parking lot of the corner gas-bar - and the colors were brilliant in the sunshine: Red, White and Blue.

Close Up and Personal - Day 24

Red Wine Glass in Sunshine

Red Wine Glass in Sunshine
- reflections and refractions in direct light

One of my grandmother's treasures was her full table set of Portuguese cut glass, which included everything from thumb-sized sherry and port glasses to full size water goblets, with jugs and sherbet cups to match.
My favorites were always the red wine goblets, with their distinct color contrasts and well defined patterns. They always looked beautiful, and they still do.

Close Up and Personal - Day 23

Sixteen Markers

Sixteen Markers, Sixteen Different Colors, and Drawing Paper
- and a quiet afternoon

Markers are such fun - they can be neat and tidy, but they could be messy -  they are colorful and their color goes on the paper quickly.
All office-workers deserve to have a bundle of water-based markers and some drawing paper in their desks for a little time-out before going on to their next official task.

A tertiary triad is made up of three colors which are each mixed from a primary color and a secondary color. The use of tertiary colors in a design gives a subtle effect and provides backgrounds that contrast strongly with saturated primary and secondary colors.

Color Triads - Orange, Green, Violet

Color Triads - Orange, Green, Violet

The color scheme of a secondary triad is made up of the three secondary colors, orange, green and violet. This combination gives an energetic feeling to a composition, but the impact of the colors is not as intense as from a display of the primary colors.

Color Triads - Red, Yellow, Blue

Color Triads - Red, Yellow, Blue

Most of the emotional impact of a design comes from the artist's choice of colors, sometimes called the color scheme. Many color schemes are based on three colors, called triads. The triad of red, yellow and blue is called the primary triad, because it is composed only of primary colors and it gives the sensation of being bold and lively.
