Birches and their Neighbors - Day 26

Sunrise Contrasting Colors

WHAAA'  ???  Here's the photo as an optimized .jpg.  Changes that happened after importing to Blogger included pixelization and color shifts.

Here's the same photo saved as a .png-8. It's almost identical to original. Blogger, what happened?

Lights at Sunrise
- and the colors they produce

There are two light sources in this photo - one, the rising sun bouncing through the clouds in the eastern sky, and the other, the artificial light on the building behind the trees.
To our eyes, the areas where the light does not strike show up as complementary colors to the light - in this case intense blue-violet against intense orange-yellow.
The artificial light merely serves as an accent to the colors the sun produces.

This is extraordinary! To my eye, the white roof and light makes it all POP POP POP. So I have to ask, did you enhance the sky digitally? It is rich -- nearly approaching Pantone color of the year 2014. LOL

Blogger has rendered today's photo into a real mess... tree trunks are pixelated like crazy, color tones are leveled, it doesn't look at all like the original.
I tried to repost the same photo, got the same results.

I re-processed the photo as a png-8 and posted it. What a difference! The .png is almost identical to the original photo.

Did I enhance the sky digitally? No, Barbara, and maybe that's the trouble, I chose to keep the sky colors as saturated as they were, thus making the overall tone in the photo dark.

Maybe Blogger automatically corrected the .jpg for me. But it didn't seem to affect the .png.

Hmmm....

Hmmm. To do not see pixilation but I see totally different colors. I like the botched version with the blue-white roof. Sort of like a Tahitian sunset. Perhaps I am incorrigible.
